Fiction Bureau

"Dispatches from the near future"

Fiction Bureau is an Alexandria research initiative that uses fiction to explore hard questions about geopolitics, conflict, and emerging technology. Each dispatch imagines a specific, plausible future to surface hidden assumptions, trace second- and third-order consequences, and make emerging risks concrete while there is still time to prepare.

The dispatches are nested within a larger narrative about the Fiction Bureau itself: an imagined institution founded at the point where conventional exercises exhaust their ability to anticipate what comes next. By placing writers, technologists, and independent thinkers alongside seasoned practitioners, the Bureau widens the aperture of strategic imagination, expanding the range of futures that can be examined before they arrive.

If you think seriously about the future — even when it's uncomfortable, even when the evidence is thin and the conclusions are unwelcome — we'd like to talk. We're looking for analysts, writers, and strategists who can hold hard questions open long enough to find something useful inside them.
